Very vague memory since i only played the demo a little
Dos game it had a demo and you were a wizard in blue and had a blue wizard hat an rpg game. The title screen was blue and party members joined you weren't wizards i think you started playing alone first, you could use magic which i think you needed to learn(for gold currencty i think) and it would use mp points to cast them and it was turn based played it on an ibm computer also there i was playing a map that looked like in final fantasy with bookcases in the map and many npc and houses that you could freely walk in all 4 directions but more dos graphics than the final fantasy. T
he game had dos sounds instead of real sound for some reason the first enemies i found were rats. While it was turn based and the characters were in top down view think that it was like in final fantasy when fighting like similar to only final fantasy i played a little which was the 2nd game on mobile or those rpg maker games. Where the enemies were on the left and you on the right

If anybody has any idea how i could search it up better to get to know the name of the game.
I played it around the 2000 year.
Also you could buy equipment, items spells maybe even your party members you had to pay so they would join you in the town but that is pretty basic everything like in final fantasy 2 that i played.

It would narrow the search.

It would narrow the search.
So that makes it japanese the battling?
Maybe it was a little different but when it came to battling i am not totaly sure if i seen the characters and where they were anymore in battle.
But i am gonna try to do a dos search only for now.

Edit: not sure but it could be Enchantasy: Quest For The Eternal Grimoire but there is only one video i found on youtube.

You can play that one on the Internet Archive, see if the early stages jog a memory.

I do think it is the game i thought about but didn't know anymore properly. It even has slot machines to lose or earn money which was part of the game. I tried to play it in dosbox staging and you can buy food in that dosbox but which dosbox has save states again and is most up to date?
Think lots of info i had got mixed up but anyway you begin as a mage in a blue robe not with a hat. The mage with hat and blue robe was the one you needed to talk to.
Anyway the topic can be closed i solved.
The game is actually enchantasy
